Philips Bodine Arc Keeper

ARC Keeper HID Backup Ballasts, in response to a power disturbance, immediately begin supplying supplemental power to the lamp. The ARC Keeper will support the lamp for up to two minutes. Two minutes is generally enough time for the disturbance to pass or for an auxiliary generator to engage.

Because ARC Keepers supply power during the transition to and from generator control, they allow HID fixtures to serve as emergency lighting units. Such transitions without ARC Keeper support would extinguish the lamp arc.
