About Philips Emergency Lighting
Philips Emergency Lighting's goal is to help you understand the technical and legal aspects of emergency lighting so that you can specify it with confidence.
PEL's products are engineered so that, in the event of an emergency situation requiring building evacuation, emergency lighting guides occupants to the nearest path of egress, helps prevent injury en route and plays a key role in the smooth, swift, successful passage of occupants to safety.
PEL designs and manufactures emergency and specialty lighting solutions for today's and tomorrow's lighting industry. The company combines quality, reliability, code compliance and American ingenuity to create products for a variety of applications. These applications include fluorescent, HID metal halide, LED and generator-supplied lighting. Products are sold through a nationwide network of manufacturers' representatives and electrical distributors for field installation or directly to lighting fixture manufacturers for factory installation.
PEL, originally the Bodine Company, was established in 1962 and is based in Collierville, Tennessee, USA . PEL is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA).
Company founders Richard H. Bodine and his late wife Virginia Bodine were both accomplished business persons and generous contributors to their community. PEL continues this tradition of community involvement through support of civic and educational programs in the Memphis area.
